Perennial Broadleaf

If you have Perennial Broadleaf Weeds and they bother you, we have options.  If you appreciate them for the color, biodiversity, and occasional fragrance they provide then you can disregard this message.

To naturally discourage Perennial Broadleaf Weeds, or other weeds, we recommend:

  • Mow HIGH! - Mowing heigh encourages deep roots and make its harder for new weeds to sprout!  It also makes it easier for your grass to crowd out existing weeds.  Mow ar 3.5-4.5 inches from April-September and lower your cuttig height to 2.5 inches gradually in October.

  • Properly Water - If you keep your lawn growing through the summer it will camouflage weeds better and provide more competition against weed infiltration.  We recommend applying enough water to fill up a tuna can (about 1 inch) every week spread out over two sessions.  In extreme heat, an additional 5 minutes of water every afternoon will help cool grass, reduce the stress on it, and help it fight weeds better!

  • Seed! - The best defnese against weeds is thich healthy grass!  Older varieties of grass just don't compete well with weeds, while newer varieties do a better job.  We can overseed into your existing lawn or kill off the entire lawn (naturally) and then "renovate" giving you a new looking lawn that will stay green and look more attractive.

  • Weed Buster Applications -  We offer a Weed Buster weed management program that nutures your turf in an effort to reduce the overall weed percentage.  You can add extra Weed Buster applications in the spring or fall.

  • Speedy Weedy - Our handy dandy Speedy Weedy makes plucking dandelions fun and easy!  Money back guarantee if you satsified! (Not for use in hard dry soil).

  • Soil Test & Balance Soil - We can collect soil from your lawn in the spring or fall and use the results to balance the nutrient levels and decrease weed pressure.  Highly recommended for "newer" lawns.

If naturally treating you lawn is not enough, we recommend:

Spot Chemical Weed Control - Sometimes weeds are so entrenched that it makes sense to reduce them quickly with spot chemical weed controls and then work to make them less likely to return by using our natural programs and the methods described above.  We can schedule a spot weed spray for you at any time of the year, but spring and fall are by far the most effective times to control broadleaf weeds.
